Now the streamer has another small-screen soft-focus teen romance, which has been a permanent fixture of the top 10 ranking since it dropped. Every Year After has been adapted from Carley Fortune’s sensationally popular BookTok novel of a similar name (Every Summer After), with a will-they-won’t-they love affair tale. The show has proven so popular that the streamer confirmed it will be back for a second season, based on Fortune’s sequel of sorts, One Golden Summer. The sophomore season will focus on Charlie Florek’s (Michael Bradway) love story, which was (slightest of spoiler warnings) teased in the series one finale. The eight-parter focused on Percy Fraser (Sadie Soverall) and Sam Florek (Matt Cornett), who are one another’s first loves, but romance ebbs and flows over the course of six summers lakeside in Barry’s Bay, Canada . Hence the title. This will be one for The Summer I Turned Pretty fans (Picture: Justine Yeung/Prime Video) Season two was confirmed onstage at Prime’s Obsessed Fest event, with Michael Bradway on hand to answer questions (Picture: Gilbert Flores/Variety via Getty Images) Running concurrently with this, the story picks up again a decade later, when Percy is working as a dour obituary writer and reckoning with a life that isn’t going as she planned. A close family friend dies, forcing Percy to return to Barry’s Bay to attend the memorial service. There, she tries her damnedest to avoid any run-ins with her now-ex Sam, who’s working as a doctor. This week in her hometown – which is a lot of them moping about the fact they can’t be together, for reasons you will have to tune in to find out – is intercut with the summers of their past. Played by younger actors as tweens, Percy and Sam first bond over horror movies and lake swims, set to tunes from the likes of Gracie Abrams, Lana del Rey and Noah Kahan. But as they get older and swap into the main leads, their focus shifts to the messy teenage hallmarks of getting together and breaking up, over and over again. Their families are incredibly patient about the whole thing. POLL Poll Does Every Year After sound like one for you?
