Collin Gosselin Reveals DISTURBING Reason Why He Thinks Mom Kate Really Sent Him To Behavioral Facility At 12 Years Old
[Warning: Potentially Triggering Content] Collin Gosselin has a theory about why his mom, Kate Gosselin , sent him away at only 12 years old. As you will recall, the reality star got custody of her and Jon Gosselin ’s eight children — twins Cara and Madelyn and sextuplets Collin, Alexis , Aaden , Leah , Joel , and Hannah — following their divorce in 2009. Kate then sent Collin to a behavioral institution in 2016 for alleged “unpredictable and violent behavior” towards family members, and he was there for two years before Jon rescued him. In a September 2025 interview with The Us Sun , which was published in full this week, the former reality star explained he thinks his mom sent him to the behavioral facility because he didn’t want to be on camera with her anymore. Kate Plus 8 continued after his parents’ divorce without Jon, which led him to “question” Kate: “Even as a 12-year-old, before I was sent away, I could start to consider both sides of things. I really could look at things in retrospect, and I was stubborn enough to question my mom. I questioned her about everything, and that came before the rebellion of me not wanting to be on camera and be a part of her circus. That questioning led to me later not wanting to be on camera, and that really killed her.” WTF. Your child not wanting to be filmed all the time is understandable. Their feelings should be acknowledged and respected, and they should come before any show. Collin not wanting to be on camera is also not a good enough reason to send him away — if this is true. Plus, Collin wondered if Kate only sent him away to protect her “reputation”: “I don’t know what reason it was, whether it was her reputation she was saving by sending me away from home, or whether it was the fact that maybe it’s easier to sign a work permit for seven children that are voluntary, instead of seven children that are voluntary and one that’s involuntary.” Ultimately, there “are a lot of things to question there.” And he may not get the answers he wants. Kate isn’t entirely receptive to a talk with Collin right now, especially as he is gearing up to expose all her alleged dirty laundry in his upcoming memoir. He went on to say that his mother only visited him “one time for probably about 20 minutes” while at the institution, and that “the whole time I was blamed.” He shared that it was “about a year of me being there, and the whole time I had these glasses on and tears coming down my face,” and he was “overweight” and “sick” as he was “on all these medications” at the time. Kicking him while he is already feeling down is so disgusting. OMG. Collin then claimed that Kate told him “that I broke her family, that
