The 79-year-old movie icon, who will turn 80 on July 22, revealed that he was diagnosed in 2022, shortly after receiving an honorary Oscar. About the symptoms he faces, he told the Today show, “I can live with it in a sense. I’m sure as it advances, different things will be different and changing.” About the diagnosis, he added to People , “I’m still not accepting in my mind all parts of it. There are the moments that you keep remembering that validate the fact that you can remember stuff. And there are moments I’ll never forget.” His younger brother Marty added, “We just want him to live his best life like he made us live ours.” Danny is best known for playing Detective Roger Murtaugh in the Lethal Weapon film series, a role he portrayed across four films from 1987 to 1998. His film career also includes starring roles in The Color Purple, Predator 2, Angels in the Outfield, Dreamgirls, and 2012 .
