The global superstar is currently promoting the highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Disney’s Moana. While reprising his role as the legendary demigod Maui, his physical transformation has caught plenty of attention. However, the internet isn’t the only critic he has had to face. His toughest crowd was right at home. Dwayne Johnson shares how his kids felt after seeing him as Maui Johnson shared that his young daughters had a hilariously candid reaction when they first saw him in full costume. “The first time they saw me as Maui, they were like, ‘Oh,'” the actor revealed during a recent interview with E! News’ Will Marfuggi .  He admitted that seeing their normally clean-shaven dad with a massive mane was incredibly “jarring” for them. The initial shock lasted for about ten minutes before they finally got used to the new style. Given that he wears a huge, curly wig to match the animated character’s iconic hair, their initial confusion makes perfect sense. The hair is a major change for the action star.  To bring Maui to life on the big screen, he also had to spend over two hours in the makeup chair every single day. He wore a massive prosthetic suit to replicate the demigod’s giant, tattooed frame.  While the internet has had a field day making viral memes about the trailer’s wig, the actor is completely unfazed by the online jokes.  The Rock explained that the internet is always going to joke around, and the comments actually made him laugh out loud. Beyond the humor, the major film holds a deep personal meaning for his family. Both his mother and his daughters will be making special appearances in the movie.
