Singer Bismil has shared his candid views on the growing use of technology in music, including Auto-Tune and artificial intelligence. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble , he mentioned that both tools can be beneficial when used responsibly. While acknowledging that Auto-Tune has become a common part of modern music production, he stressed that it cannot replace genuine singing talent. Bismil Supports Usage Of Auto-Tune And AI In Music When asked about artists using AI and Auto-Tune for their work, Bismil said, “Mujhe lagta hai Auto-Tune koi kharab cheez nahi hai. Matlab everyone use karte hai. Kyunki jo aaj kal sound ki frequencies hoti hain na, woh apni normal awaaz par exact nahi baithti. To mujhe lagta hai thoda bahut Auto-Tune is good. But agar koi singer hai hi nahi aur usmein Auto-Tune laga rakha hai, toh woh toh ekdum samajh mein aajayega na. To its not bad agar use sahi tareeke se kiya jaaye. Aur AI bhi mujhe lagta hai bahut sahi cheez hai. Matlab mere photos edit ho jaate hain yaar, usse bhi badhiya. Koi video banani ho, woh bhi patt se ho jaati hai.” About Bollywood’s Auto-Tune & AI In Music The Bollywood music industry is heavily reliant on and shaped by AI and pitch-correction technology like Auto-Tune and Melodyne. While these digital audio workstations (DAWs) are used to achieve polished, radio-ready tracks, the growing use of AI for voice cloning and synthetic music generation has sparked major industry debates. Pitch correction has become standard practice, with music directors and producers employing it to align vocals with modern, heavily quantised digital arrangements perfectly. The rise of AI has also brought concerns over voice cloning, with unauthorised replication of human voices becoming an issue. This has led singers to actively fight against platforms generating synthetic tracks using their vocal likenesses. In landmark legal cases like Arijit Singh v. Codible Ventures LLP, artists have successfully protected their voice and personality rights against AI cloning. While some composers like AR Rahman have utilised AI creatively, for instance, to recreate the voices of deceased singers with appropriate compensation to families, many independent artists and veterans criticise AI generators for threatening artist royalties and originality, raising ongoing questions about the ethical and legal implications of AI in music production.
