EXCLUSIVE: Daughter of RTÉ legend in talks to be announced as new host of Six O'Clock Show

Lottie Ryan could be set to be announced as the new co-host on Virgin Media’s Six O’Clock Show, EVOKE can reveal. Speculation has been rife about who will join Brian Dowling to host the Ballymount-based broadcaster’s afternoon flagship show after Katja Mia stepped down to take up a role with Laura Fox on 2FM. Pic: VIPIRELAND.COM An insider revealed: ‘Lottie is such a professional to work with and is a perfect choice to be the next host of the show. ‘Lottie and Brian have such great chemistry when they’re together and have been friends for years. ‘She could definitely be a great addition to Virgin Media.’ News of Lottie moving to Virgin Media has been circling around RTÉ this week, but the star has remained tight-lipped about the rumours. Lottie won the glitzy entertainment dance show that year as the country went into lockdown. The pair made television history together on the RTÉ One show’s ‘Switch-Up Week’ in February 2020 by participating in the show's first-ever same-sex dance pairings. During switch-up week, Brian danced with professional dancer Kai Widdrington, while Lottie Ryan danced with professional dancer Emily Barker. Their friendship then continued when they teamed up to host the Dancing with the Stars Ireland: Official Podcast - RTÉ alongside singer Lyra. Picture: Brian McEvoy It is understood the mum-of-one will take up the role in autumn and is ‘very excited’ to get started, according to sources. In 2020, Lottie previously said she has always been vocal in RTÉ about wanting her own show. The 40-year-old said at the time: ‘Without a doubt, I’ve been pretty vocal about it in the past. I want my own show, so I’m absolutely pushing for it and hopefully something will happen. ‘I’m definitely going to open my horizons into television as well because I really enjoyed all aspects of Dancing with the Stars and the live element of it. Pic: Lottie Ryan/Instagram ‘And they are such a fantastic crew and team to work with you can’t but feel like, Jesus, this is the kind of environment I’d like to work in as well. ‘So I definitely am looking into TV and I categorically want my own radio show soon. ‘I’d love to do a doc, and I’ve a few ideas I’ve been putting down on paper for that but I’d be totally open.
