'My heart dropped' Influencer Nara Smith reveals her toddler has cancer
Nara Smith has revealed that her two-year-old daughter has been fighting cancer after being diagnosed ‘late last year.' The influencer, who is often connected with the Tradwife movement online, opened up in a video shared on Instagram on Wednesday. Pic: Nara Smith / Instagram Nara started her video by saying there was ‘no easy way’ to share her family’s news but that her daughter Whimsy was diagnosed with cancer. Recalling finding out about Whimsy’s diagnosis, Nara continued: ‘When we saw something suspicious on her, we took her to the ER, and they didn't quite know what to make of it. ‘When we took her into our pediatrician, I just remember him going really quiet and calm... Pic: Nara Smith/ Instagram 'I don't know whether it was my gut telling me something or just a mom's intuition, but the first thing that I felt was she has cancer.’ Nara and Lucky then took their daughter to the nearest children's hospital and, after lots of tests, were told she had cancer and Whimsy needed treatment straight away. ‘[The doctors] told us it had spread and that she needs to come and start chemo treatments immediately,’ Nara said. Later in her video, Nara addressed why she’s been a little absent from social media in recent weeks, saying it’s been tough to navigate her daughter’s diagnosis, raising her other children, and work commitments. Pic: Nara Smith / Instagram She said: ‘Processing this and navigating all of this as a family has been really hard… Some days are a little easier, some days are really hard, and all I can do is try my best. ‘A lot of you have probably realised that I've been posting a little less and this is the reason why. Having found all of this out and navigating this while postpartum, also loving and caring for our other kids at home, also being in the hospital with Whimsy a lot and balancing work on top of that has been really challenging.’ Nara also said that she’s been finding comfort in talking to other parents in similar situations, saying: ‘All of that combined really brought me a lot of comfort and alleviated the feeling of loneliness for me.’ Two of Nara Smith's children.
