The American swinger-songwriter was one of six people who were killed after two helicopters crashed in Brazil. In a message posted on his Instagram account on Sunday, a spokesperson confirmed the alternative rock artist’s body was ‘back in California where he can finally rest’. The statement also confirmed that his family will honour Tree’s ‘final wish’ by setting up a foundation in his name. ‘His legacy will live on through his foundation/endowment named “Dr. Oliver Tree’s Extremely Epic Grant For Baby Geniuses” coming soon,’the post read. ‘This is something that Oliver had put together before his passing, written in his will. Peace be with Oliver.’ In April, Oliver previously spoke about his desire to give his ‘wealth or the things that get made from it’ away one day. ‘When I die – I’ve set it up – my will is set up that when I pass, my family, no one’s going to get a penny,” he said on The Zach Sang Show. Tree, who was known for his hit songs Life Goes On, Miss You and ULTRAMAN, died near Rio de Janeiro on Sunday, June 14, when two helicopters collided, with an investigation now underway.
