Tennis Icon Chris Evert Reveals 'Relentless' Ovarian Cancer Has Returned

Tennis legend Chris Evert ’s ovarian cancer has returned , she announced on Thursday, June 25. “I have always believed in being open and honest about my health journey,” she wrote in a statement via X . “This past weekend, after undergoing CTD and PET scans, I learned that my ovarian cancer has returned.” Evert, 71, continued, “I have already undergone surgery as the first step in my treatment and recovery, and will begin chemotherapy in the coming weeks. Because of this, I will not be attending Wimbledon this year, and I will step back from my professional commitments over the next few months to focus on my health.” Evert was scheduled to be in London for the tournament, both to promote her new Netflix documentary alongside Martina Navratilova , Chris & Martina: The Final Set , and to work as a commentator for ESPN.
