The notice targets Zee Studios, MIG Production & Studios LLP, and the film’s producers. They raised concerns about the portrayal of India’s farming, dairy, and poultry industries. The complainant alleges that the film’s teaser and advertisements contain false, defamatory, and scientifically unsupported claims. These include emphasising issues such as pesticide use, food adulteration, and increased cancer cases. It frames India’s agricultural ecosystem as a source of “slow poison.” The notice claims such portrayals unfairly damage the reputation of farmers, dairy and poultry producers, and agro-input suppliers. This could incite unnecessary public panic. Specific criticisms highlighted in the legal notice include: The claim that India uses excessive pesticides. The complainant counters by stating that India’s pesticide use per hectare is lower than that of many other countries. A scene showing a syringe being injected into a dead chicken, which is disputed and deemed misleading. Allegations of widespread milk adulteration, which the notice refutes as deceptive and scientifically incorrect. The assertion that agricultural practices are directly linked to rising cancer rates. The complainant argues lacks robust scientific backing and verified data. The legal notice demands that the filmmakers disclose the research methodology, sources, and scientific basis for the figures and images presented. It calls for the removal of the teaser and other promotional content from digital platforms. It mandates necessary revisions to the film before its release.
