EXCLUSIVE: Anjana Sukhani Compares Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan’s Stardom To Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan; Says, “One’s Hero-Worship”

Anjana Sukhani believes the biggest difference between Bollywood and the South Indian film industries lies in the unmatched culture of hero worship. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble , she shared her observations and explained how fans in states like Andhra Pradesh and Telangana place their favourite stars on a pedestal, often celebrating their releases with extraordinary passion. Anjana Sukhani Compares Bollywood And South Indian Films Box Office When asked about the South Indian films performing extraordinarily at the box office when compared to Bollywood, what differs between the industries, Anjana Sukhani said, “South mein it’s a very hero-worship state. Yahan par Mr Bachchan, Shah Rukh, Aamir, ya Salman ke statue par doodh nahi chadhaya jaata. Wahan par unko ek alag tareeke ka hi pedestal milta hai—especially Rajinikanth sir, Kamal Haasan sir, ya Vijay sir. So I think because it’s a very, very hero-worship culture, especially in Andhra and the Telugu states, they put their heroes on a pedestal.” The actress continued, “So it’s very personal for them, and I think that’s actually beautiful. Ki agar Vijay sir ki picture lagi hai, toh main theatre hi jaunga. Aur ek baar nahi jaunga, main toh chaar baar dekhunga. And people actually do that. People spend money and go four or five times if it’s their favourite actor’s film. I have seen that myself. So I think it’s amazing, actually amazing. You have to give it to them. Hats off.” Anjana Sukhani featured alongside Amitabh Bachchan in a highly popular Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate commercial during the early stages of her career. She doesn’t have direct film acting credits with Shah Rukh Khan. The actress later appeared on screen with Amitabh Bachchan again in the multi-starrer action film Department (2012), directed by Ram Gopal Varma.
