Released on June 12, Manoj Bajpayee-led Governor opened to positive reviews and managed to hold its own at the box office despite clashing with multiple films. In the 18 days since its release, the film has managed to nett Rs 5.81 crore at the domestic box office. As the film continues to screen in a select few theatres, we’ve now learnt that the film will premiere on Amazon Prime Video in the last week of July. Bollywood Bubble has also learnt how much the streaming giant has paid to acquire the digital rights of the financial drama. Governor Digital Rights Sold For Rs 42 Cr Talking about digital deal, a source reveals, “Producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah has sold the digital rights of his upcoming film Governor to Amazon Prime Video for a whopping ₹42 crore. Starring Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role, the film has already garnered a positive response from both critics and audiences. Widely regarded as one of the most bankable stars in the OTT space, Bajpayee’s presence is expected to further boost the film’s viewership upon its streaming debut. It stars Manoj Bajpayee, Adah Sharma and Madhoo in leading roles. It also features Mounis Ratta, Paresh, Noushad Mohamed Kunju, Krisha Kurup, Amitabh Pandey, John Forbes, Devaang Bagga, Deepak Bindra, Umar Raza Khan and Aryan Pushkar as pivotal characters. Giving the film a 3-star rating, Bollywood Bubble wrote in its review , “Manoj Bajpayee delivers a compelling and nuanced performance as the RBI Governor, capturing the seriousness and moral complexity of his role during India’s financial crisis.
